Sarah Kieran
Sarah Keiran is a highly accomplished rider, trainer, and educator whose career is defined by her passion for horsemanship and her dedication to developing both horses and riders to their fullest potential. With a foundation rooted in determination and grit, Sarah built a successful junior career as a working student—competing primarily on borrowed horses—and quickly rose to prominence in the equitation ring. Beginning at age 13, she earned annual qualifications for the ASPCA Maclay Finals and USEF Medal Finals, captured the 2012 MHC Junior Medal Finals title, and was named RIHA Reserve Champion in 2013.
While earning her degree in Music Performance and Education at Ithaca College, Sarah remained a dominant force in collegiate riding. As her IHSA team’s Cacchione Cup rider throughout her college career, she consistently delivered top performances at the national level, earning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes at IHSA Nationals. Under her leadership, both individual and team honors became routine, with multiple regional and national championships to her name.
Sarah’s strength lies in her ability to bring out the best in every horse and rider she works with. She has developed and campaigned young horses to top placings at major shows throughout the Northeast, with repeated tricolor finishes and more than half a dozen USHJA National Hunter Derby victories to her credit. Her competitive experience extends through the 1.30m level, and her program emphasizes correct, confidence-building training that produces consistent results.
As a coach, Sarah is known for her clear, intuitive, and goal-driven teaching style. She is deeply invested in her students’ progress, focusing not only on technical excellence but also on cultivating strong mental skills and horsemanship. Her riders regularly qualify for and succeed at some of the nation’s most competitive events, including Junior Hunter Finals, New England Equitation Championships, the National Horse Show, and a wide array of regional and local medal finals.
With a reputation for integrity, professionalism, and a deep understanding of the sport, Sarah Keiran is a respected and sought-after presence in the equestrian community. Whether in the ring or at the barn, she brings a rare blend of expertise, empathy, and excellence to everything she does.
